What is the Kingdom of God—and what does it mean when Jesus says it has come near?
The Kingdom Is Near is a 12-session youth curriculum that invites teenagers to explore God’s kingdom as more than a distant place or future promise. Through Scripture, conversation, interactive activities, and personal reflection, students will discover God’s loving and just way becoming visible wherever people experience dignity, healing, freedom, belonging, justice, generosity, and hope.
The series follows the biblical story from creation to the ministry of Jesus. Students begin by imagining the goodness God desires for creation. They then explore how God forms a kingdom community through covenant, liberation, shared practices, and accountable leadership. Finally, they encounter Jesus, who brings God’s kingdom near through healing, welcome, truth, generosity, belonging, and repair.
The curriculum holds together the “already” and “not yet” of God’s kingdom. Students learn to notice where God’s restoring work is already growing while honestly naming the suffering, division, and injustice that remain. Rather than placing the responsibility for fixing the world on teenagers, each session helps them consider one faithful way they can notice, support, or join the good work God and others are already doing.
