The Gift of Christmas: Advent Journey for Youth
An Advent journey through hope, peace, joy, and love
What does hope look like when the future is uncertain? Can peace exist alongside questions? Where do we find joy when life is hard? How do we recognize that we are loved?
The Gift of Christmas invites teenagers into meaningful conversations about the gifts God offers us through Jesus—and how we can receive and share them in our everyday lives.
Through Mary’s song, Joseph’s unexpected change of plans, the shepherds’ good news, and the Magi’s journey, youth explore the Christmas story with curiosity and room for honest questions. Games, Scripture conversations, personal reflection, and blessings connect these familiar stories with friendships, school, family, and an uncertain future.
What’s Included
Four Advent lessons: Hope with Mary, Peace with Joseph, Joy with the Shepherds, and Love with the Magi
A brief Christmas lesson: Celebrate the gift of Jesus
A Christmastide lesson: Explore the light of Christ and carry Christmas gifts into everyday life
Teacher preparation, supply lists, and clear activity directions
Discussion questions with optional opportunities to go deeper
Response activities and a closing blessing for each session
Printable handouts, gift tags, scavenger hunt clues, and a blank Twelve Days of Christmas calendar
Christmas and Christmastide devotional emails to send when your group is not meeting
Made for Your Ministry
Designed for youth Sunday School, youth groups, and small groups, the four Advent lessons last about 40 minutes each. The Christmas and Christmastide lessons are shorter, with email options that help you stay connected during holiday breaks. Printable resources are located at the end of each lesson.
